Lets face it, the Christmas season is a busy season, especially if you have kids! Between exams, last minute projects, tests, sporting games, sports practices, Christmas plays, Christmas recitals, cooking, family get togethers, and oh yeah, Christmas shopping…it’s exhausting! Who else can relate??
Not that I ever need an excuse to visit a beach, but this is when our family likes to travel to Gulf Shores, Alabama for a few relaxing days at our favorite resort there, The Beach Club Resort and Spa. This beautiful gated resort offers 4 high rise towers, a Clubhouse, Spa and Salon, Fitness Center, a Tennis and Racquet Club, multiple pools, hot tubs, an arcade, multiple dining options, and absolutely adorable cottages. I could go on and on about all the amenities at this resort!
There is nothing better to me than waking up, sitting out on our balcony, enjoying a cup of coffee, and listening to the crashing waves. It is the most relaxing sound ever…maybe that’s because I cannot hear my boys fighting with the each other, but that’s another story.
The beach seems to be one of the few places that I can actually get my kids off of electronics and outside to play. Whether it’s playing tennis at the resort, digging in the sand at the beach, or relaxing in the hot tub (my kids love a hot tub), I am just happy to have them OUTSIDE!!
Now, who in the world would go to beach without eating seafood?? Not me! Give me all the grilled fish, shrimp, and chargrilled oysters I can eat. My absolute favorite place to get chargrilled oysters is at Felix’s in New Orleans, but while in Gulf Shores we headed to Acme Oyster House. Do you have a favorite way to eat oysters?
I’m typing this as we are getting ready to start back to school tomorrow. Christmas vacation is over. Back to tests, sports, projects, homework, and…Drivers Ed for my oldest! Yikes! In the meantime, I’ll count down the days until I am back at The Beach Club Resort and Spa to relax….only 11 more months, ha!
